As most of you are no doubt aware, the 2009/2010 Cadet Training Year is starting again very soon.

For cadets returning from last year, your first training night will be 03 Sept 2009. Dress will be summer dress with open collar. Please bring along any information that has changed in the past year so that we may update our records. That includes information on your emergency contact, family doctor, home address, etc.

For new recruits looking to join this year, you can come and register the following week on 10 Sept 2009.  If you'd like to hurry the process along, you may print and fill out out the recruit package from the Resources section of this website. Please remember to bring along your Birth Certificate and Health Care Card. We will also need to know of any allergies/medication and family arrangements. Please be prepared to give this information.

Thank you, and on behalf of the staff of 2313 SALH RCACC (Kiwanis) we look forward to seeing you all in the coming weeks.

Platoon commanders and section commanders are being reminded to call their sections with the following information.

Although this email goes out to mostly parents it is important that both cadets and parents see/read/are told about it.

Dress this week is civilian attire.  ALL cadets are to bring in their combat pants and shirt on a hanger cleaned! Also you need to bring in your combat boots as well.  These items will be placed in supply for reissue as soon as we return in the fall.  Any cadets who forget these items will be told to make arrangements to have them brought in on Thursday night. Summer camp information and kit will be issued in Thursday.  ALL cadets attending summer training should have a parent present to address any questions. We will meet in the confrence room at 1900hrs.

I would like to personally congratulate all cadets for the job well done on Saturday.  As well as to all those who received awards.  Although I did not appreciate having to clean up after almost everyone went home, lesson learned and for the couple of cadets and staff that helped thank-you.

If there are any cadets who know they will NOT be returning in the fall, please bring in all parts of your uniforms on Thursday night and we will clear you out, hopefully there will not be any as we continue to grow and build the unit we need your expertise!

A special thanks to all the guests and parents who took the time to come out and support the unit and the cadets on Saturday, we look forward to seeing many of you in the fall when we organize a society that will benefit and raise funds for the cadet corps.  If we ever want to have a casino and get the benefits of gaming funds we need to start working on this is the fall.

Over the summer we will be taking time to renovate the new office and supply, if any parents have the skills, tools, or connections that may help us please let me know, and Carol Whaley I am sure that a lifetime supply of bandaids is only a phone call away with Pharmasave, so construction is a go!!!!!!

There will be an additional Administration night on June 25th at the Armoury in case more camp information comes in.

Over the summer break, if need be, I can be reached the following ways, phone 403-581-9111 or 403-488-5468 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . If there are issues at summer camps please let me know as I have cadet staff and adult staff connections at all the camps that will be of assistance should one of our cadets need it.

First parade night back is in summer dress (like they were on the ACR) and it is on September 3rd for returning cadets and September 10th for new cadets. There will be recruiting awards so bring your friends! Have a GREAT summer, watch the website for a monthly July and August update, as well as a tentative training calendar for next year, also there will be photos of construction on our Flickr page!!!!!!  www.salhcadets.org

Sorry it's a little late but even so if you have not received a call from your section commander by now you should be calling them tonight.

Don't forget if you bring in 4 friends on Thursday and they sign up and stay till the end of the year then you could get an XBOX 360. The person with the most friends that sign up Thursday (4 or more) will win!!!!!!

Dress this week is beret, black corps shirt, belt, pants, and highly shone parade boots. Anyone with deficencies from there uniforms last week must bring them in this week corrected. Ie badges sewn on tunics properly, boots laced properly.

Hopefully everyone has been studying there manuals as we will be doing testing tomorrow night. All written tests will be completed for all star levels. Please be as prepared as you can be.

This weekend is amazin race, all volunteers are to be at the armoury at 0800hrs on Saturday May 2nd for their briefing and cadets are to be there by 0900hrs. Don't forget to bring your backpack with your swim suit and towel and a water bottle (with water) and a filled brown bag lunch or snacks to get you through the day. End time for this activity should be around 1900hrs if you need to book a ride home. Also bring your cameras with you and take pictures. It is going to be a blast! There are 17 teams participating, that's 68 cadets from all three units.

Heads up for next weekend we have the Silver Expedition May 8-10, and then our weekend exercise on May 15-18 which is testing and fun. All cadets must attend a weekend exercise in order to pass their star levels and move on in our program. So those of you who joined since Christmas need to attend this activity. Don't worry these weekend ftx's are a blast!

In regards to this weekend cadets should be prepared, if you have a sleeping bag, and a backpack then please be prepared to bring it. If you do not have one but can borrow from a friend or relative please make arrangements to do so. Due to a large Air Cadet Survival weekend we are unable to get equipment from the military.

Did you know that each year the Army Cadet League of Alberta gives away almost $1000.00 in prizes to cadets and staff for submissions to their photography contest? Take pictures and select a few to enter, it does not cost anything! Ask your CO for more information!
